Supporting Student Success in Sumter County Schools

Sumter County Schools is committed to ensuring every student has access to a high-quality education, regardless of background or circumstance. Through a variety of federally funded programs, we support academic achievement, educator development, student well-being, and educational equity. Our goal is to provide the resources and support necessary to help all students reach their full potential.

Title I – Improving Academic Achievement
Title I provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families. These funds are used to help ensure that all children meet challenging academic standards by supporting programs such as additional academic support, parent engagement, and instructional resources.

Title II – Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High-Quality Educators
Title II focuses on improving teacher and principal quality through professional development and recruitment efforts. The goal is to increase student academic achievement by elevating the effectiveness of educators and ensuring equitable access to high-quality instruction.

Title III – Language Instruction for English Learners (ELLs)
Title III funds support language instruction programs that help English Learners attain English proficiency and meet state academic standards. The program promotes cultural inclusion and provides resources for instructional support and family engagement to ensure ELL students thrive academically and socially.

Title IV – Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE)
Title IV aims to improve students’ academic achievement by increasing access to well-rounded educational opportunities, improving school conditions for learning, and enhancing the use of technology in education. These funds support programs that promote student health, safety, and the effective use of technology in classrooms.

Title IX – Education for Homeless Children and Youth (McKinney-Vento Act)
Title IX ensures that children and youth experiencing homelessness have equal access to a free, appropriate public education. The program removes barriers to enrollment, attendance, and academic success, supporting students in maintaining school stability and receiving necessary services.

Together, these federal programs reflect Sumter County Schools' dedication to equitable education and the success of every student. For more information on each grant, please explore the individual program pages.
