  • Sexual misconduct, including sexual assault, sexual harassment, and stalking.
  • Abuse conducted through electronic means (e.g., texting, social media, or other digital platforms).
  • Harassment or abuse carried out through third parties.

Students are expected to behave in a manner that reflects maturity, respect, and consideration for the rights and well-being of others. The District will take all reports of dating violence seriously and respond promptly in accordance with established procedures.

Vaping Awareness and Prevention

Vaping—the act of inhaling and exhaling vapor from an electronic cigarette or similar device—has become an alarming trend among teens. The Sumter County School District is committed to educating students, families, and staff about the dangers of vaping and e-cigarette use.

We encourage parents and guardians to learn more about the risks and how to talk to their children about making healthy choices:

School Bus Safety – Sumter County School District

While school buses are among the safest forms of ground transportation, safety remains a shared responsibility for students, families, and motorists. The Sumter County School District encourages everyone to follow these important safety tips to ensure a safe school year for all.

School Bus Safety Tips for Students

  •  Walk safely to your bus stop and stay at least three giant steps away from the street.
  •  While waiting, stay clear of the road and avoid standing on private property.
  •  When the bus arrives, wait until the doors open before approaching.
  •  Stay seated while the bus is moving and wait for the driver to open the door before getting off.
  • Be quiet at railroad crossings and always follow the driver’s instructions.
  • Avoid talking to strangers or going anywhere with someone you don’t know while waiting for the bus.

School Bus Safety Tips for Motorists

  • Obey reduced speed limits in school zones during designated hours—remember, speeding fines are doubled.
  • On two-lane roads or divided highways without a 5-foot unpaved space or physical barrier, all vehicles must stop in both directions when a school bus displays its stop signal. Do not proceed until the signal is withdrawn.
  •  Be aware that school buses stop at all railroad crossings—stay alert and patient.
