Sumter County School Board Public Hearing April 7, 2026
The Sumter County School Board will meet on Tuesday April 7, 2026 at 5:30 pm in the Sumter County School Board Meeting Room, 2680 W C 476, Bushnell, FL 33513 for a Public Hearing to discuss school start time for Sumter PREP Academy and the infeasibility to start no earlier than 8:30AM.
The Hearing is open for public input.

The Sumter County School Board will meet on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at 5:30 pm for a Public Hearing on World Languages Adoption. The meeting will take place in the School Board Meeting room at 2680 W C 476, Bushnell, FL.
We welcome all stakeholders to take part in the review of the selected instructional materials. Below you will find a link to the student editions of the selected textbooks associated with each course. The review process included using a rubric to evaluate each textbook for various required features including curriculum features, technology components, assessment features, alignment to district initiatives, Florida B.E.S.T. Career and Technical Education (CTE) Instructional Materials Adoption Review
In accordance with Section 1006.28, Section 1006.31, Section 1006.283, and Section 1006.34, Florida Statutes, as well as Rule 6A-7.0710, Florida Administrative Code, the Sumter County School District announces a public review of instructional materials under consideration for adoption in the area of Career and Technical Education (CTE).
These laws outline district responsibilities related to instructional materials, including the review, recommendation, adoption procedures, and public transparency requirements.
- Section 1006.34, F.S., details state-level procedures for evaluating and adopting instructional materials.
- Section 1006.283, F.S., establishes district school board procedures for reviewing, recommending, and adopting instructional materials.
- Rule 6A‑7.0710, F.A.C., incorporates the official procedures for instructional materials evaluation.

Members of the public are invited to attend and review the instructional materials being considered for adoption. Feedback collected during the public review period will be provided to the district’s Instructional Materials Adoption Committee for consideration before final recommendations are made.

Sumter County School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) Curriculum Review
Notice is hereby given that the Sumter County School District will conduct a public review and evaluation meeting for an additional instructional material selection regarding the Career and Technical Education (CTE) adoption cycle.
This meeting is held in accordance with Florida Statute 1006.28 and Florida Statute 1006.283, which mandate transparency and public access to the selection process for instructional materials used in Florida public schools.

Purpose of the Meeting
The District Instructional Materials Review Committee will meet to evaluate the proposed curriculum for Business and Entrepreneurship Principles. This session serves to ensure that the materials align with the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) state standards and meet the rigorous requirements for Career and Technical Education.
Public Access and Input
Members of the public are invited to attend this meeting to observe the evaluation process. In compliance with Section 1006.28(2)(a)2., F.S., the school district provides the following:

Material Access: Opportunities for the public to examine the specific instructional materials under consideration.

Public Comment: A designated time for parents and Sumter County residents to provide input regarding the proposed materials.
Note: Any person who decides to appeal any decision made by the Board or Committee with respect to any matter considered at this meeting may need a record of the proceedings. For such purposes, that person may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made.
