The purpose of Title II, Part A, is to enhance educational opportunities for students by providing sub-grants to local educational agencies (LEAs). Our goals include:
- Increasing student achievement in line with challenging State academic standards.
- Improving the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and school leaders.
- Increasing the number of effective educators who can positively impact student achievement.
- Ensuring that low-income and minority students have greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.
In Sumter County, we are committed to focusing on the following strategies to achieve these objectives:
- Recruitment and Hiring Initiatives: Developing and implementing programs designed to attract and hire effective teachers.
- Professional Development: Enhancing the effectiveness of all teachers through comprehensive evaluations and high-quality, personalized professional development experiences.
- Retention Strategies: Working to retain effective teachers, principals, and school leaders within our district.
- Targeted Support for High Needs Students: Prioritizing access to effective educators for students in high-need areas, particularly in low-income schools that face challenges with teacher effectiveness.
Private school leaders and instructional personnel in Sumter County can also access training and recruitment programs funded through Title II, Part A. Participation is based on an equitable model proportional to student enrollment and classification, and access to these services is available through consultation.
Together, we can work towards better educational outcomes for all students in our community.
