Title III: Language Instruction for English Learners & Immigrant Students

Title III is a federal initiative designed to enhance educational opportunities for K-12 English Language Learners (ELL) in Sumter County. This program provides supplemental materials and programs to ensure that all ELL students have the support they need to successfully graduate from high school and pursue post-secondary education.

The resources provided under Title III are meant to complement, not replace, existing materials and programs within our schools. The focus areas for this funding include reading and language arts, along with assistance in other subject areas to ensure that content is accessible for all ELL students. Our ultimate goal is to help every ELL student develop strong English language skills and achieve academic proficiency as determined by state assessments.

In addition, private school personnel are eligible to access Title III funds, which are distributed fairly based on the ELL student population and their specific needs. Consultation is available to help facilitate access to these important services.
