What is Take Stock in Children?

Take Stock in Children (TSIC) is a transformative scholarship and mentoring program that helps break the cycle of poverty through education. It provides college scholarships, caring volunteer mentors, and college readiness support to academically qualified, low-income students in Florida.

Who is it for?

This opportunity is open to current 8th-grade students enrolled in public middle schools in Lake or Sumter County who meet the following criteria:

When can you apply?

🗓️ Application Window:

August 1, 2025 – February 15, 2026

Where does it happen?

Students apply online and, if selected, are matched with a mentor who meets with them twice per month at their school.

Why should you apply?

TSIC offers more than just a scholarship—it provides a support system that empowers students to graduate high school and pursue higher education with confidence and financial backing. Since 1996, over 700 students in Lake and Sumter Counties have benefited from this program .
