Sumter County School District is proud to continue its partnership with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office to bring the Deputy Friendly Program to all VPK students.
Each month, a deputy from the Sheriff's Office will visit every VPK classroom to read a story aloud. After each visit, the book will be donated to the classroom library, helping to build a love of reading and a stronger connection between students and local law enforcement.
At the end of the school year, every VPK student will receive a book to take home and keep as a special gift.
To participate, families are asked to sign and return the Deputy Friendly Letter sent home with each student. Teachers will collect and file these forms in the classroom.
A copy of the Deputy Friendly Schedule is also available for reference.
We’re excited to welcome our deputies into the classroom and share the joy of reading with our youngest learners!
