Kelly Goodwin- Principal
I grew up in Sumter County and I am proud to say that I am a product of Bushnell Elementary. I graduated from St. Leo College with a BA in Elementary Education and earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. I began my career 20 years ago as a teacher right here at BES.
I have taught second through fifth grades in my teaching career. I have also served as a Reading Coach/MTSS Facilitator, spent three years as the Assistant Principal of Lake Panasoffkee Elementary, and half a year as the AP at South Sumter Middle School before being hired as the Principal here at BES.
I have loved every stage of my career, and I am excited for the future. I will always put the needs of the children above all else, and will work tirelessly to continue the tradition of excellence at Bushnell Elementary, A Great Place to Grow.
Jessica Johnston- Assistant Principal
Being an educator has been my dream since I was a little girl "teaching" any friends or family that would play along from a tree house in my back yard. The opportunity to touch a child's life is a precious gift and an awesome responsibility! I'm excited to do just that here at Bushnell Elementary!
I was born and raised in south Florida in the greater Ft. Lauderdale area. I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a reading and ESOL endorsement from Clearwater Christian College, and I earned my masters degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida. While I may not have been born and raised here, I chose Sumter county as the place to put roots and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else!
I began my career as a classroom teacher at Lake Panasoffkee Elementary school in 2009 teaching Kindergarten for a year and 4th grade for 4 years. I then taught 6th grade English-Language Arts at South Sumter Middle school for two years, before transitioning into administration where I served as an AP for 1 year at SSMS.
I am excited about being a part of BES as we continue to grow in success!
