Dr. Suzanne Shinn
I love teaching here at South Sumter High School! I have 33 years teaching experience in grades 7 - 12 mathematics. I have taught every course from 7th grade math through AP Calculus BC. I taught in the Kansas City area from 1992 - 2022, and then I moved here to Sumter County to be with family.
Currently, I am teaching AP Statistics, AP Research, Geometry and Cambridge Thinking Skills. I also sponsor the Interact Club and the Key Club.
Please email me with any concerns or questions at suzanne.shinn@sumter.k12.fl.us.

The students also make mats made out of plastic yarn for the homeless. Students participate in Earth Day activities by picking up trash near SSHS. Students also make cards for young hospital patients at Shands Hospital.
Officers in Key Club are invited to various meetings at nearby locations to meet officers from other high schools and discuss volunteer opportunities.

Geometry
Posted by:Geometry is a fun class taught through various methods. Students learn the Florida B.E.S.T. standards in order to pass the E.O.C. at the end of the course. Student's OneNote has information about the course expectations and lesson information that a student would need to make-up a missed class period.

AP Research
Posted by:AP Research students collect new data about a student chosen topic. Through this new data, new conclusions are reached with a new understanding in the field of study. Some students collaborate with experts in a field to complete the paper and presentation. Students receive an AP score by turning in a research paper to the AP website and giving a presentation to a committee of teachers and administrators at school. There is no AP exam for this course.

AP Statistics
Posted by:AP Statistics is a course that culminates in an AP test in May. Most of our students get college credit for this class by scoring a 3 or better on the AP exam.
