English 2

  • Mrs. Hooten

My name is Kailin Hooten, and I am so excited to be a part of your educational journey! I am currently in my fourth year of teaching my own classroom, all of those in the subject of ELA. However, I have been in the classroom setting for a total of seven years! I have taught at the elementary, middle, and high school level! I currently teach English 2 and am the 10th grade class sponsor for the sophomores. This will be my second year teaching in Sumter County at the high school, and there is no better environment for our students!

I am originally from Okeechobee, Florida, and moved here once I married my husband. He is a lifetime Sumter County resident and SSHS graduate (2015). I graduated in 2021 with my Bachelors' from Indian River State College after graduating from Lake Placid High School (2016). Education has been my mission field since I was 19 years old, and there is nothing I love more than interacting with, inspiring, and devoting my time and effort to the students. My favorite thing is to see the love of learning, and the hope of the future spark in my students' eyes. My hope is to be the best teacher I can for them, and help lead them in one way or another to achieve their goals!

My favorite things to do include agriculture, spending time with my family (and Beagle pup)... and, of course, reading books! I also love to support my students in their extracurricular activities like sports games, Sumter County Fair, and any other clubs or activities they take part in!

I cannot wait for this school year and for these students to take another step closer to their future! The best is yet to come!
