The agricultural educator’s creed begins with the phrase “I am an agricultural educator by choice and not by chance.” This phrase is a crucial belief in my own educational background. I believe as an educator, inspiration comes in many forms. As an educator in Career and Technical Education, my greatest form of inspiration are those small student successes; that ‘aha’ moment in a student’s eyes when some technical skill has finally clicked for them in a real-world setting. It brings me great encouragement when students from various backgrounds come together in my classroom to meet a common goal such as assisting the school community by constructing shop projects. Even more so, hearing students taking the skills and experiences that they have learned in my class back home and utilizing them brings me the ultimate inspiration. That same creed mentioned above ends with the phrase “My love for youth will spur me on to impart something from my life that will help make for each of my students a full and happy future.” Again, this phrase resonates with what truly inspires me to continue the career that I purposefully chose and was not placed in by chance.
