    The assistant superintendent of schools is appointed by the superintendent and approved by the school board.  She can be contacted at (352) 793-2315 ext. 50247.

    Deborah D. Moffitt has devoted her entire education career to the Sumter County School District.  She was voted Webster Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year in 1993.  She currently serves as the Past President for the Florida Association of District Instructional Materials Administrators and has served as a state grant reviewer for the Florida Department of Education.

    She and her husband of 23 years reside in the Bushnell area.  They have one son and one grandson.  Their son is a foreman with a power company and also resides in Bushnell.  He is a graduate of the Sumter County School system.  

    Mrs. Moffitt is a fifth generation Floridian and graduated from the Sumter County School system as did her father.  Mrs.  Moffitt has taught at both the elementary and secondary levels and served as assistant principal at North Sumter Intermediate and principal at North Sumter Primary and Wildwood Elementary School, giving her over 34 years of experience.  She has served as the district’s first grant writer, Elementary Specialist, Elementary Director, and Senior Director of Instructional Programs for grades K-12.

    Mrs. Moffitt was instrumental in restarting the Sumter Schools Enhancement Foundation and currently oversees, along with board members, the annual Sumter Golf Tournament.  Mrs. Moffitt volunteered many years as a Director of the Sumter County Fair Association and served two years as president.  She is a lifelong alumni member of Future Farmers of America (FFA) and a member of the local football boosters. Her ultimate goal is to give back to the community that has so enriched her life and several generations of her family, as well.
