Degrees and Certifications:
Darryl Franklin Reaves is a native Floridian. His family is from Webster, (Sumter County) Florida. Reaves earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A&M University; and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the University of Florida. He has taught as an adjunct professor at both the University of Miami (Sociology) and his alma mater Florida A&M University (Government and African-American Studies). In the realm of K12 education, Reaves worked as a curriculum specialist for Abecedarian, Inc., which was an after-school tutorial program funded by the state of Florida. Reaves began his public teaching career at Wildwood Middle High School.
Reaves recently was Senior Vice President of Government Relations for UrbanAmerica, which is one of the first commercial real estate investors to focus on acquiring and developing properties in America’s urban markets and low-to-moderate income areas. Reaves previous government relations experiences include B. Mumford & Company, where he developed and maintained relationships with elected officials, agency, and department executives to further the opportunity and goals of their various clients.
Reaves currently serves on the Board of Trustees of The Foundation for Florida’s Future, which is the educational think-tank of the Bush Foundation. He is a former board member of Mascotte Charter Elementary in Mascotte, Florida.
