Welcome! We hope you will find the following information helpful in preparing your child for 5th grade. We are looking forward to a great year! Unless you received notice during the year, your child will only need to bring the following supplies.
Please do not send: Trapper keepers, toys, hand-held pencil sharpeners, sunglasses, liquid glue, calculators or watches with alarms. - Thank you
Also, with the growing number of students with asthma and allergies, please have your child refrain from wearing scented products to school.
Hopefully, with your positive support and encouragement, your child will have a successful year. Here are the class rules and learning opportunities that we will have to ensure a positive environment. Please read and review these with your child and keep them for future reference.
Because we expect our students to be on their best behavior every day, if you do not get a note or phone call from us, assume that your child has had acceptable behavior for most of the day. We also have Osprey Wings on hand to reinforce your child’s excellent behavior.
READ, READ, READ!! Read with your child as much as possible. Students are required to read every day and test on an AR book every day. This special time is critical in order to achieve successful literacy development.
Parent conferences- are scheduled if you have questions, concerns, or just wondering how your child is doing. If you would like to schedule a conference, please call the school office to make an appointment.
Visiting and volunteering – if you plan on visiting the classroom at any time you will need a visitor’s pass. If you plan on volunteering at any point in time (including field trips) you will need to fill out the online volunteer form. If you wish to volunteer in the classroom, once you are approved, please schedule a time and day to be here. This will ensure that we have items you can assist with and it will minimize distractions for the class.
Notes from home – are needed for absences and if there is a change in your child’s normal transportation home. The school cannot allow any changes in the way your child gets home without written notice.
Parent involvement – ask you child daily about what they did at school. Assist your child with any homework they might need assistance with. Have a set bed time, ensuring that each child gets at least 8 hours of sleep at night. Being your child to school on time, they tardy bell rings at 8:05.
Please make sure your child maintains proper hygiene care. PE is early in the morning and proper hygiene is necessary.
Again, we are looking forward to a great year with your child! Please feel free to contact us via email with any questions or concerns.
