A book I recommend for 9th grade students to read is The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancey. It is my favorite book of all time. It captures aspects of the Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union and the espionage war they fought perfectly. It was so well researched and written that the FBI actually investigated the author because of the accuracy. It was Clancey’s first best seller and in my opinion his best work.
This is my 4th year teaching and second year at Wildwood Middle High School. I teach both 9th grade Earth- Space Science and Algebra 1. In addition I serve as the 21st Century After School Programs coordinator.
After graduating college, I served on active duty in the Army as an armor officer achieving the rank of Captain. I left the Army and worked in the business world in various capacities and industries. I left that and started with my wife our own art business. We spent 11 years criss-crossing the country selling her paintings. 4 years ago we decided to spend more time at home with our 3 children, who are now all in high school. And so we both entered the teaching world. She is an art teacher in Marion County and I work here.
It is a great pleasure to be part of the Wildcat family and I look forward to working here for many years to come. Go Cats!
