Literacy Week
Posted by Amy Fussell on 2/5/2016Literacy Week arrived and students at South Sumter High School had fun participating in our many events for the week! One such event, was challenging students to find books with faces on them and make their own BOOK FACE! Teachers even got involved and after many laughs and posing just right, our students were exposed to literacy by simply jumping into the book collection and going on a hunt.

Infected Book Fair
Posted by Amy Fussell on 11/10/2015 11:00:00 PMThe Media Center hosted the "Infected Book Fair" from Oct. 27th- Nov. 6th and I am pleased to annouce that we raised 1,700 dollars!!!!! Scholastic had given a goal of only $600 but the staff and students of South Sumter High School have matched that plus more. By doing so, we are eligble to recieved a bigger Book Fair in the spring. The Teen Advisory Board (a small group of library volunteers that stay after school and assist me in the promotion of literacy) were a big help in the organization, planning, and implementing of this successful Book Fair! Our students were excited to see revelant and grade-level novels that proved that 'Reading is Infectious'.
Thank you to everyone for helping us spread literacy across South Sumter High School!
