College Awareness Week
Sponsored by AVID
“People achieve what they believe they can. We want ALL students to be aware of the opportunities college affords and believe that with hard work comes great reward. We know that the future success of these students will depend on some type of postsecondary education whether that is college, technical school, or military and it is our job to prepare them.” Christina McKinney
Calling all South Sumter Raider Families:
Current and Alumni!
South Sumter High School is renovating its
courtyard and revitalizing school spirit!
By donating a brick, you are helping us create a walkway that is representative of the Raider Pride and evidence of our motto that “Tradition Never Graduates.”
Personalize your brick with your name, a message or the memory of a loved one! Donate a 4x8 brick with your family name or an 8x8 tile with your business or organization. A great idea for class reunions! All bricks will be installed in a walkway connecting SSHS buildings and separating areas of the courtyard managed by student organizations.
So make your mark on South Sumter High School
help us create a courtyard our kids can be proud of.

In a 4:45 p.m. conference call today just prior to the Governor’s 5:00 press conference, Chancellor Jacob Oliva announced that, as a part of the mitigation plan for COVID-19, no students will be back in class on prek-12 campuses through at least April 15. This means that Sumter County Schools will begin distance learning this coming Monday, March 23, implementing the district’s Instructional Continuity Plan, and utilizing the work of classroom teachers this week to extend the plan through at least April 15th. Sumter is one of four districts beginning distance learning a week prior to the other districts because of its early spring break dates.
Sumter County Schools will be providing work at home packets that will help to maintain your Kindergarten through 5th grade students' assignments. Please plan to come by your child's school to pick up their work packets during the scheduled times, Wednesday, March 18th or Thursday, March 19th from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm. Students in grades 6-12 will be able to access all assignments through the Office portal using Teams / Class Notebook. All students should monitor their Remind accounts, as well as email if possible, for updates being sent by individual teachers. Additional information will be provided as soon as possible.
