Ms. Eartha Taylor of Wildwood Elementary School, has been selected as the Sumter County School-Related Employee of the Year.
Thanks to a 5 year $2.1 million federal grant funded through 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC), students attending four of Sumter’s schools will be offered after school programing throughout the school year.
According to a recent memo released by the Florida Department of Education, the students in Sumter District Schools performed above the state average in all tested areas. Scores were recently released for FCAT Science for grades five and eight and End-of-Course Exams in Biology, U.S. History and Civics.
The Washington Post recently designated South Sumter High School as one of the nation’s most academically challenging high schools.
