The School Board of Sumter County is composed of five members and are elected to four year terms. While the member lives in their represented district, they are elected at large and serve the district as a whole. School Board offices are non-partisan. Mr. Evans was elected to the board in 2006 and lives in The Villages. He is married to Cynthia Evans and has four grown children.
Mr. Evans was educated in Illinois and began his career in the Wall Street district of New York City with Chubb & Sons, Inc. serving as an underwriting officer. His insurance and business experience included executive level positions with several insurance companies as well as other business ventures.
Mr. Evans served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He currently is active as an insurance consultant for commercial accounts. He has also been active with civic and property owner associations.

Mrs. Norris was first elected to the board in 1992 and lives in Lake Panasoffkee.
Chris Norris was born in Belleville, Illinois and moved with her family to Lake Panasoffkee when she was eight, where they operated a fishing lodge. Her father also taught 21 years at the Withlacoochee Technical Center .
Chris and her husband Robert have three children and five grandchildren.
She has been a Sumter County business owner for over 40 years and is proud of her deep Sumter County roots. She considers it a privilege to have been elected to the school board and is especially proud to have had a role in serving the children of the county she has called home for over 50 years.
Since 1992 Mrs. Norris has represented the Sumter District Schools and the Sumter County School Board as an appointed board member to many county, district and state organizations.

Mr. Williams was recently elected to the school board in 2014. He lives in Oxford with his wife Deserae and their two young children. His wife is a graduate of South Sumter High School.
Mr. Williams grew up in Wildwood and is a graduate of Wildwood High School. His father was a long time coach, educator, and administrator at Wildwood High School. He attended Florida State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Administration from the College of Business with a Major in Professional Golf Management.
Mr. Williams is a PGA Golf Professional with certifications in General Management, Golf Operations, and Retail. He has been the Facility Manager at Cane Garden Country Club in The Villages ever since it opened in 2004. He is personally responsible for supervising over 100 employees and the operation of 72 holes of golf. He has been working in the golf and hospitality industry for over 20 years.

Mr. Jones was first elected to the board in 1996 and lives in Bushnell.
He and his wife, Diane have been married for over forty years and have two children and five grandchildren.
Mr. Jones is a graduate of South Sumter High School, Lake Sumter Community College and Rollins College and prior to retirement, he was employed as a County Probation Officer. He has also served the citizens as a Supervisor through the state Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services and the state Department of Corrections.

Mrs. Joiner was first elected to the board in 2010 and lives near the Bevilles Corner area of Sumter County.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education K-6 with an ESOL endorsement from Saint Leo University and a background of Cross-Cultural Bi-lingual studies from California State University, San Bernardino. Mrs. Joiner is currently teaching Kindergarten.
Mrs. Joiner and her husband Greg have two sons, Micah and Troye. Greg works for Sumter District Schools as a computer technician. Micah is a graduate of South Sumter High School and is an IT Professional at Jacobs Technology in Tampa. Troye also graduated from South Sumter High and will join the Rattler Battalion at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) on a Navy ROTC Scholarship.
