  • Basketball is #1

We are proud to announce that for the first time possibly in the history of Wildwood Middle High School we have both our girls’ and our boys’ basketball teams ranked #1 in state basketball polls.  The Florida Association of Basketball Coaches have ranked both our basketball teams #1 in their most recent poll.  This is very exciting for our teams, our school and our community, especially with the playoffs beginning in the few weeks.  Please come out and support our teams as they strive to bring a state championship to Wildwood. #WinItAll #BELIEVE

  • Remembering 9/11

On Friday, September 9, 2016, WMHS held an assembly to remember the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001. Since this was the 15th anniversary of 9/11, the Key Club hosted the assembly to commemorate the heroic acts of that day.  We were honored to have retired members of the New York City Fire Department, Robert Kane and Tony Magnanti, talk to students and present a slideshow. Students also had a chance to ask questions.  The band played two selections as part of the event.  Mr. Kane and Mr. Magnanti brought a hat that had 343 on the front of it to represent the 343 firefighters that died that day.

  • New Covenant Mentor Program

The New Covenant Mentor program was initiated on the WMHS campus in 2014. This program begins with students in the 8th grade and these students remain in the program throughout their high school career. During this 5 year mentor program, the building of trust and relationship is established. Eighth grade students were chosen by their teachers to be part of this program. This program focuses on four foundational areas: physical, spiritual, academic/career, and behavioral needs. The mentors come out to speak with the students and provide guidance on issues they are experiencing. Various activities are done throughout the school such as the family picnic, meet and greet session as an introduction of the mentees and mentors, Christmas gathering, field trip and end of the year celebration. The students have openly embraced this program. Year after year, students are requesting information to be in the mentoring program. This program has done wonders for the students here at WMHS.

  • Backpacks for Kids

Backpack for Kids is an organization partnered with other community groups making an impact on the lives of children through school supplies. On August 19, 2016, Backpack for Kids came out in numbers to assist with providing backpacks to the entire student population. Prior to distributing the backpacks, the organization gathered together in a classroom stuffing the backpacks with supplies. The supplies included a binder, folders, sheet protectors, dividers, highlighters, pencil pouch, pencils, pens, glue, colored pencils, and crayons. Our math department received a box of Texas calculators. Extra backpacks and supplies were also donated and will be used throughout the school year as needed. Wildwood Middle High School is so grateful to have the community meet the needs of the students and we are thankful for the school supplies.
